A Year in Recruitment: UK Recruitment Trends Report 2015
Broadbean is the global leader in providing recruitment advert posting and candidate response tracking technology, with a particularly strong position in the UK market; giving us a unique view of current recruitment trends.
We see more vacancies being posted than almost any other player in the market – in excess of 65% of all of the jobs posted online are posted using Broadbean Technology.
From this unique position, Broadbean is able to examine in real detail, the key trends as they emerge across a wide range of industry sectors and salary levels.
2015 saw GDP growth fall from 2.9% in 2014 to a modest (albeit internationally competitive) 2.2%. It became clear that the recovery remains relatively fragile, and at the mercy of external factors outside of our control, including performance of the Chinese economy.
From an employment perspective however, recruitment in 2015 was another strong year for the UK:
-
-
- Employment levels grew strongly with 521k more people employed by the end of 2015 compared with the end of 2014. Broadbean’s data mirrored that growth with a 15.5% increase in the number of vacancies advertised through our system;
- Unemployment fell further to 5.1% by the end of the year. 1.69m people were unemployed at the end of 2015, 172k fewer than at the end of 2014;
- The one negative remains the modest rate of increase in salaries, though the increase of 1.9% is an improvement compared with recent years.
